What to Expect
After a preliminary meeting, there is no requirement to proceed if you decide not to. You and I may make use of the supportive environment to examine the personal concerns for which you require Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Existential Therapy, Integrative Therapy, Psychology, Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) or Transactional Analysis (TA). I will discuss confidentiality with you. We can see how well we work together. You and I will then be able to establish if my approach is appropriate for you.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT concentrates on how your thoughts influence your emotions and actions. It recognises and addresses unhelpful thoughts that maintain the issues you experience. The objective of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is for you to experience healthier thoughts and emotions.
The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends CBT for Bipolar Disorder, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) (ME), Depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Panic Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Self Harm and Substance Dependence.
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
DBT considers your understanding of your thoughts and emotions. It facilitates your finding of helpful reactions to your life. DBT hopes to help you enhance and maintain your coping skills.
The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends Dialectical Behaviour Therapy for Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD).
Existential Therapy
Existential Therapy investigates how you perceive your existence. It encompasses deliberation on your viewpoints, capacities and choices. Existential Therapy seeks to help you discover significance in your existence and the issues you experience.
Integrative Therapy
Integrative Therapy selects therapeutic approaches to suit your preferences and the problems you experience. It explores your subjective experience and choices. The aim of Integrative Therapy is to help you advance your self-awareness.
Psychology
Psychology is interested in you and your mind, feelings and behaviour. It offers you psychological treatments and mental wellbeing support. An intention of psychological therapies is to help you ease symptoms.
Solution Focused Therapy (SFT)
Solution Focused Therapy concentrates on discovering answers to the problems you encounter. It examines what helps you, and what actions you could make to implement change. The purpose of SFT is to help you know and utilise your own strengths.
Transactional Analysis (TA)
TA centres on the modes you use to communicate with yourself and others. It explores the effect of your pre-conscious life strategy and how to improve it. Transactional Analysis aims to help you recognise your worth and ability to grow.
